* Fund Raiser - About Emily - Emily is a special needs child. I made this video with her to raise money for a new saddle for her. Emily came down with leukemia when she was 18 months old and went through three years of painful chemotherapy. Then she went through several broken homes and (to put it simply) has had a difficult young life. She was recently adopted by her loving grandparents with whom I am friends.

I found out that Emily was interested in endurance riding and decided to mentor Emily and become her sponsor for the 2008 endurance riding season (and beyond). This means I supply transportation and training rides, equipment, and ride fees for her endurance rides. (All junior riders must be accompanied on the endurance rides). She also gets riding lessons and encouragement. In return, Emily earns the rides by helping out at home and working on her relationship with her grandparents (basically, by being a good kid!).

We just recently successfully completed a 50 mile endurance ride in one day! The rides we attend are sanctioned by the American Endurance Riding Conference (AERC) and are monitored by veterinarians. We ride to "complete", not race, and to have a good, safe time with our horses and friends.

Emily has alot of challenges ahead, but she loves to ride. She is very talented in working with horses. She bought her Arabian horse Sameh for one dollar and trained him herself to do these tricks. Sameh really takes care of Emily, but he has a sway back and needs a special saddle for endurance. We made this video to raise money to help Emily with her riding goals. (Her grandparents do their best but they are not well off).
